How often does relatively clean, potentially useful water go straight down your kitchen drain? Whenever you wash or rinse anything without soap like fruit or vegetables the water going down the drain could be reused for a multitude of things including the watering of indoor plants.

ReUSE is about empowering people to reuse water in the kitchen through the use of a simple mechanical design intervention. By installing a two way valve which the user controls using a foot pedal they can reroute the water going down the drain to a storage tank.

A tap connected to the tank allows the user to access as much as they need at any given time. A mechanical feedback system using a float in the tank shows the user how much water is in the tank.

My intention with this project was to create an interactive design display which people could use and experience how potentially easy it is to reuse water intelligently.
